Awards Ceremony to be Held August 1 at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge

The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce this year’s winners of the 2018 Building Brooklyn Awards (BBA). Now, in its eighteenth year, the Building Brooklyn Awards recognizes recently completed construction and renovation projects that enrich Brooklyn's diverse neighborhoods and economy. The eleven projects receiving honors represent a great combination of large and small, public and private domains that really run the gamut of how development shapes Brooklyn. This year’s award ceremony will take place on August 1 at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge.

"It’s great to see the variety of thoughtful projects making up this year’s mix of winners," said Acting Chamber President Rick Russo. "From a free-standing Pre-K, to the unique 325 Kent at the Domino Sugar complex, to the tallest building in Brooklyn – residential high-rise the Hub – Brooklyn’s real estate landscape is truly a force in the world. These awards represent the very best of Brooklyn’s design and build community and we congratulate all the winners for their innovative and impactful work which adds to the quality of life for all Brooklynites.”

In addition to awarding 11 projects, BBA will recognize two leaders who have played an instrumental role in the renaissance of Brooklyn. Jeffrey E. Levine, Founder and Chairman of Douglaston Development LLC, has directed the new construction and rehabilitation of thousands of residential units, including both affordable and luxury housing, student housing, hotels, senior living, health care facilities and millions of square feet of commercial retail, office and institutional space. Kenneth D. Daly, Chief Operating Officer for National Grid’s US Electric business, leads the delivery of safe, reliable electricity service to 3.3 million customers across New York, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. For the past 7 years, Mr. Daly was the President & Chief Operating Officer of the New York business of National Grid. Both men have received numerous awards during their long careers and are active in numerous civic and educational activities.
