Anthem appears to be the only insurer willing to offer health insurance next year to people living in the Roanoke and New River valleys who purchase individual policies.
The insurer is seeking an average rate hike of 5.6 percent for 2019, but some people could see their premiums fall as much as 7.5 percent or rise as much as 9 percent, according to Anthem’s filing with the State Corporation Commission.
Anthem projects that it will insure 75,000 people under its HealthKeepers plans, and that the average annual premium will be $8,647.
