A subsidiary of Disruptive Enterprises in Durham, North Carolina, has raised $7.75 million in a Series A financing from One Better Ventures LLC, a Raleigh, North Carolina-based advisor and investor.

The money will go to Disruptive subsidiary Low-Carb High-Fat LLC.

Disruptive Enterprises is a health and wellness company that aims to replace processed food carbohydrates in peoples diets through high-fat alternatives and ketone therapies.

The money will be used to build distribution, innovate new products, and accelerate digital marketing. Low-Carb High-Fat’s mission is to help more people realize the benefits of a low-carb or ketogenic lifestyle.

“In LCHF, we found an extraordinary team that meticulously researches, develops, markets, and distributes high-quality products,” said John Replogle, One Better Ventures partner. “The combination is a powerful mix, and we are delighted about our next chapter with a highly skilled team we know well.”

The partnership between the two companies began in 2014 when One Better Ventures was an advisor to Scivation Inc., a sports nutrition brand that was founded by the executive leadership team of Disruptive Enterprises.

“We have worked with One Better Ventures for several years and they have been excellent partners,” said Mike Hockenberry, Disruptive Enterprises CEO. “Their experience developing brands and products, transforming mature categories, and enhancing omnichannel marketing is as useful as the capital they contribute. Our shared value of improving health and wellness of consumers and patients across all ages and stages of life makes this a natural fit.”

Disruptive Enterprises is currently conducting a clinical research study for nutritional intervention in Angelman Syndrome in collaboration with Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and the University of South Florida.
