Mayer Brown announced that Elena Rubinov has joined the firm’s Corporate & Securities practice as a partner in New York. Ms. Rubinov previously was a corporate partner at Bracewell.

“Elena brings important capabilities to our growing team,” said Phil Brandes, a co-leader of Mayer Brown’s global Corporate & Securities practice. “Her substantial experience working in the energy and infrastructure sectors will enhance our ability to serve strategic and financial sponsor clients around the world.”

Ms. Rubinov maintains a broad M&A practice, representing public and private companies, including private equity and infrastructure fund clients, in corporate and business combination transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, investments, co-investments, joint ventures, recapitalizations, restructurings and bankruptcy sales, among others. She regularly counsels clients in a variety of industries, including energy, infrastructure, media and entertainment, chemicals, financial services and retail. Additionally, she advises on debt and corporate restructurings in connection with equity recapitalizations, rights offerings and 363 sales and acquisitions.

“I’m delighted to join the highly regarded transactional team at Mayer Brown and to work with my former partner, Fritz Lark,” said Ms. Rubinov. “Mayer Brown is the perfect fit to further expand my energy and infrastructure M&A practice. Significantly, the firm’s global platform will allow me to take advantage of opportunities to grow my broader M&A practice given my diverse experience.”

“Coming on the heels of Fritz Lark joining the firm, Elena’s arrival further supports our clients’ needs for strong infrastructure and power capabilities in New York and globally,” said Matthew Ingber, the partner-in-charge of Mayer Brown’s New York office. “I’m thrilled Elena has chosen to join Mayer Brown and I’m confident that our clients will benefit immediately from her impressive knowledge and experience.”

Ms. Rubinov’s arrival comes shortly after Fritz Lark, who joined the Corporate & Securities practice as a partner in New York earlier in February. In addition, the firm recently has welcomed a succession of highly regarded laterals around the world, including Jeremy Hill in London, Matthew Gaul in New York, Paul Chen, Kara Baysinger and Stephanie Duchene in Northern California, and Steven Tran and Brian McKenna in Hong Kong. In 2018, the firm welcomed Corporate & Securities partners Anna Pinedo, Jerry Marlatt, Phyllis Korff, John Boelter, Kristin Koren, Aubry Smith, lliana Kirova and Satoru Murase in New York. The arrival of these new partners is a major step in Mayer Brown’s strategic goal of building out its M&A, capital markets, private equity, private fund formation, energy and infrastructure capabilities.

Mayer Brown is a global services provider comprising an association of legal practices that are separate entities, including Mayer Brown LLP (Illinois, USA), Mayer Brown International LLP (England), Mayer Brown (a Hong Kong partnership) and Tauil & Chequer Advogados (a Brazilian partnership).
