Two Hord Coplan Macht projects topped the list in this year’s Senior Housing News Awards. Brightview West End won the Assisted Living category and the renovation and expansion of the Town Center at Erickson Living, Oak Crest placed second in the Renovation/Repositioning category. The annual awards program recognizes cutting-edge design, excellence and innovation in senior living.
Brightview West End, an urban-integrated, high-rise senior living community located in Rockville, Maryland’s bustling Rockville Town Square, sets a precedent for the future of senior living design. The 195-unit community features independent living, assisted living and memory care residences. With publicly-accessible amenities and a plethora of walkable retail, restaurants and recreation, residents have access to something no building alone can provide: naturally-occurring intergenerational interaction. On any given day residents may encounter young people ordering coffee in the ground-level café or enjoy walking to a public concert in the Town Square. It’s central, vibrant location is also highly appealing and convenient for adult children and grandchildren.
The renovation and expansion of the Town Center at Erickson Living, Oak Crest encompasses an expanded Wellness Center featuring a showpiece indoor pool, indoor pickleball court, fitness studios, and fully-equipped gym and locker rooms. The Town Center dining, lobby, library and common areas were also revamped to provide greater choices, improve comfort, and maximize connection to the outdoors for residents. Exterior fitness lawn and bandstand pavilion were provided as a central outdoor amenity. New loop fitness paths, Bocce Ball courts, and putting greens completed the park environment.
