McDaniel College Selects Jonathan C. Weetman As Entrepreneur-in-residence

Jonathan C. Weetman has been tapped as the entrepreneur-in-residence at McDaniel College.

As entrepreneur-in-residence at McDaniel, Weetman provides instruction and business strategy advice to students in the college’s The Encompass Distinction program in innovation and entrepreneurship.

In this role, he also assists students who are interested in competing in McDaniel’s annual Innovation Challenge, where students present their entrepreneurial ideas and products to a panel of experts for the opportunity to win a $10,000 top prize ($3,000 for second place and $2,000 for third place). An attorney and business counselor with The Entrepreneur Store, Weetman of Westminster, Md., was formerly the director of entrepreneurship and workforce development for the Carroll County Department of Economic Development. He also worked to improve workforce development as the head of the Carroll County Business and Employment Resource Center. He has held leadership positions with international manufacturers, as well as has run his own consulting company and law firm.

The Encompass Distinction, which is open to students in any major at McDaniel, combines courses, off-campus learning experiences and mentorship by entrepreneurial alumni of the college, allowing students to gain broad-ranging skill sets required for enterprise management. The Encompass Distinction also includes entrepreneurship and marketing minors. The program is made possible with the support of 1968 alumnus Dennis Sisco and Alexine Lesko through The Sisco Fund for Enterprise Management.
