NAIOP Massachusetts is proud to announce that Bill McCall will receive the 2016 Edward H. Linde Public Service Award. Recipients of this award are chosen based on their civic and charitable contributions, along with a life-long commitment to the highest values of service to the greater community. The award will be presented to Bill at NAIOP's Annual Awards Gala on Thursday, November 10 at the Westin Waterfront Hotel in Boston.
"Bill McCall is tirelessly devoted to public service and is committed to the Boston community," said David Begelfer, CEO of NAIOP Massachusetts. "Bill has made a huge impact in our industry and our city, and is more than deserving of this award."
After graduating from the College of the Holy Cross, Bill became a pilot in the U.S. Navy, and then began his career in commercial real estate at the Nordblom Company in 1961. Four years later, in 1965, he co-founded Leggat McCall & Werner, and sold the brokerage business to Grubb & Ellis in 1986. Bill and David Almy then started the real estate advisory and tenant representation only firm McCall & Almy in 1990, where Bill still actively serves as President. He continues to advise many of the area's top real estate and financial companies, institutions, and property owners on strategy, valuation, acquisition, disposition and leasing of real estate.
Besides being a vibrant leader in Boston's commercial real estate industry, Bill is involved in many industry and philanthropic organizations as well. He is a past president of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board, former chairman of the Massachusetts Land Bank, and he presently serves on the real estate committee of the Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management Board (PRIM). His leadership includes serving in various capacities for the Massachusetts Business Development Corporation, Jobs for Massachusetts, the Archdiocese of Boston, Beth Israel Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and Winchester Hospital. He is one of the original members and the current Chairman of the Norman B. Leventhal Park and Garage at Post Office Square.
"Having enjoyed and benefited from a 40-year relationship with Ed, and having interacted with him in his business, philanthropic, and civic endeavors, I well recognize what a wonderful person and true business leader he was," said Bill McCall. "I am thrilled and honored to be considered as a recipient of the Edward H. Linde Public Service Award."
